Can we develop a more advanced eMINTS Social Networking group to keep veteran teachers connected? We have the eMINTS Discussion list, but can something more advanced be developed? Twitter? Nings?

What do veteran teachers need?
1) Money—paying stipends
2) A list of all eMINTS Science teachers websites, math tchrs websites
3) Time to collaborate with other eMINTS teachers— time to observe—sub time during the day (.5 days) to collaborate with other teachers in the district/meeting
4) New ideas presented like the modules: twitter, wikis, moodle—how to use it in the classroom
4a) Is there someone who can create a website to train or list needs from veterans
4b) How can teachers use the new learning in the classroom
5) Connecting veterans to buddy up from different districts to learn from each other—request like Facebook to be a part of the social network across the state for certain tools, resources, etc.
i) eMINTS discussion list
ii) Skype, Twitter

6) eMINTs needs to follow up with administrators more—become more of a presence with what is being admitted through the tech department.
7) Data about how eMINTS is impacting students (available at the elementary level).
i) It would be interesting at the district level to follow a cohort of students from elementary through secondary…how successful are they?

8) Secondary support
9) Curriculum integration
10) Computers that work
11) Release learning responsibility to students
12) Supporting teachers who really are not on board
13) Offering instructional support for veterans
i) Graphic organizers, etc

14) Inquiry is much easier in Science and Social Studies. Starting there and then thinking about how it applies to other areas.
15) A better understanding of what resources are available
16) While summer institute is good, it’s difficult to implement it during the Fall
i) Maybe offer it twice
